Bauer Design Build is proud to introduce Jeff Gears as our new Director of Pre-Design. This strategic move underscores our commitment to our design partners and trade partners to approach each project as a solidified team.
Jeff brings decades of experience in the design community, a perspective that will help strengthen our role as a design builder. By collaborating closely with our design partners, he will streamline the preconstruction process and enhance quality assurance and quality control measures. With Jeff’s support, our teams will catch more issues before construction begins, saving time and resources for everyone involved. Additionally, Jeff’s expertise in creating fit plans, will allow us to present comprehensive concepts to clients early in the process—bolstering our ability to win projects and deliver on our promises.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Partner Collaboration
Jeff will work directly with our design partners to ensure a seamless, efficient partnership. - Conceptual Planning
Jeff will create concept plans that reduce scope creep, providing a stronger project foundation from the outset. - QA/QC and Page Turn Reviews
Jeff will attend page turns and facilitate more effective detailing for our design partners, strengthening quality checks before building begins.
What This Position Is Not
- Replacing Design Partners
We will not be building an internal design team to replace our valued partners; rather, Jeff’s role is to enhance collaboration. - Disrupting Project Leadership
Team Leaders and General Superintendents will continue to provide guidance on project execution as we have for years. - Taking Large Projects to Full Construction Documents
Jeff’s focus is on pre-design and concept-stage contributions, rather than developing full sets of drawings for major projects.
